Meet the Es’hailSat Team

Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Es’hailSat. With over 25 years of progressive leadership experience, he has built a distinguished career in steering organizations toward success through effective strategic planning and resource management. Before assuming his role at Es’hailSat, Mr. Al-Kuwari held key leadership positions at ictQatar, including Assistant Secretary General and Finance Director. In these roles, he was instrumental in managing strategic investments, including the satellite initiative that later evolved into Es’hailSat. Mr. Al-Kuwari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Financial Decision Analysis, further underscoring his expertise in driving organizational growth and financial strategy.

Mohamed began his career with Es’hailSat as a Project Engineer for the Es’hail-1 satellite in 2011 and was among the first four Qatari satellite engineers, having completed a 26-month SSL Engineering Internship Program covering the design, manufacturing, testing, and operation of communication satellites. Over the years, Mohamed has held several key roles across both technical and commercial functions. He served as Executive Director — Sales for more than four years and later as Executive Director — Strategy & Corporate Planning for one year. He was subsequently promoted to Acting Vice President of Commercial in 2026. Mohamed holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and has completed the Executive Leadership Program at Qatar Leadership Center.

Saif is an experienced Engineer who began his career at Maersk Oil Qatar in 2000. He later joined Qatar Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa” as a Projects Manager and then moved to Qatari Diar as Senior Manager of Cost and Planning for international projects. In 2010, Saif joined Qatar Satellite Company “Es'hailSat” as a Projects Director leading Es'hail-1 program and the development of Es'hail-2. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Corporate and Strategy in 2015. Saif holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from HEC Paris

Zoubair Kachri is responsible for managing Es’hailSat’s space and ground segments’ procurement and operations. Zoubair has a wealth of experience in the satellite industry in disciplines including satellite design and procurement, launch and ground operations management and customer delivery. Prior to joining Es’hailSat, Zoubair was the Managing Director at LSE Space GmbH which provides consultancy services to a number of international space agencies and satellite operators.

Zoubair holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration specializing in Finance.

Maryam Alkuwari, the General Counsel and Board Secretary at Es'hailSat is a licensed Qatari lawyer with expertise in dispute resolution and settlement. Maryam holds a Bachelor's degree (LLB) from Cardiff University, Wales, and a Master's degree (MSc) in Finance from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha. Maryam has extensive legal proficiency in various disciplines, including oil & gas, technology, telecommunications, intellectual property, construction, finance, corporate affairs, and corporate governance. Maryam's track record includes serving as the Secretary of the Board for major listed Qatari companies. Maryam was honored as the General Counsel of the Year at the Qatar Business Law Forum in 2024.

Tarek is the Director heading the Internal Audit Department for Es’hailSat. He has over 22 years of experience in the field of Internal Audit, Risk Assurance, and Consulting services. Prior to joining Es’hailSat, Tarek had 11 years of professional international experience with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and was the Senior Manager leading Internal Audit Services of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Qatar.

Mr. El Gaby holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Australia, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from Colorado State Board of Accountancy, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) from Institute of Internal Auditors in Florida, USA. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM) from the Institute of Management Accountants, New Jersey, USA, and is Certified Associate in Project management (CAPM) from the PMI in USA.
