Es’hailSat Opens New Teleport in Doha

Key Milestone in Providing a Secure, Independent Satellite System for Qatar

Doha14th February, 2019 – Es’hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company, is proud to announce the official opening of the new state-of-the-art facility teleport under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdulla Bin Nasser Al Thani the prime minister and minister of interior.

The new state of the art teleport occupies a dedicated 50,000 m2 site north of Doha, and will provide satellite telemetry tracking and command (TT&C) functions and capacity management, together with a wide range of teleport services such as uplink, downlink, contribution, multiplexing, encoding, playout and other broadcasting functions, tailored for our business partners.   

The high-tech teleport will also provide back-up studios for TV channels and serve as a disaster-recovery facility for broadcasters.  The site will be connected with the key media broadcasters in Qatar by means of a redundant, dedicated fiber optic link.

Es’hailSat currently broadcasts premium content for news and sports channels such as Al Jazeera and beIN .  Both Es’hail-1 and the newly launched Es’hail-2 satellite, have been designed with advanced anti-jamming capabilities and with the new dedicated ground infrastructure at the teleport, Es’hailSat can provide the optimum solution for broadcasters in the region not only in terms of technical capabilities and performance, but also in terms of security of content. Es’hailSat’s President & CEO, Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari said: “The opening of Es’hailSat’s own teleport marks a significant milestone in our plan to provide a secure and independent satellite communications system to meet the needs of our customers now and in the future.
