New Qatari satellite operator seeks local talent to join the company launching Qatar’s first satellite which will increase broadcast capabilities for the Middle East and North Africa

Doha, 2nd April, 2013 -Es’hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company, is participating in the 2013 Qatar Career Fair as part of its mandate to invest in local talent and become a world class satellite operator and center of excellence in the region. The Es’hailSat stand will provide local graduates, university students, parents and academic specialists information about the various employment, training, education and development opportunities available within the Es’hailSat organization.
Es’hailSat was established in 2010 as an independent operating company to manage and develop Qatar’s presence in space. The company will own and operate satellites to provide television, internet, corporate and government services across the Middle East, North Africa and beyond.
Es’hail 1, the country’s first satellite, is scheduled for launch in summer 2013 and the Es’hailSat program plays an important role as Qatar works to meet the rapidly growing communications needs in the region.
Es’hailSat is already investing in local talent and providing training for Qatar’s first generation of satellite operator engineers. Four engineers from Es’hailSat have recently completed a two-year intensive satellite training program with Space Systems Loral (SSL), the company manufacturing Es’hail 1. Located at SSL’s Palo Alto site, the prestigious training program was set up to develop knowledgeable and sophisticated engineering staff to specify, oversee the manufacture of, launch and operate commercial communication satellites and will assist Qatar in the development of its own space capabilities.

In 2012, Es’hailSat participated for the first time at the Qatar Career Fair and offered positions (16) from various disciplines in the company. After careful review of the candidates’ skills, 45% of the vacancies were filled. Es’hailSat is currently seeking to hire in five core business divisions: Technical, Commercial, Strategy, Legal, Finance & Administration and application forms are available on the Es’hailSat stand.
